Here are two options for rainforest hikes you can do during the day about 25 km outside of Krabi Town along the Khao Phanom mountain chain.
Hikers often see an assortment of wildlife during these treks through the forest. It is not uncommon to see birds of all kinds, frogs, toads, lizards, geckos, squirrels, and sometimes we get lucky and see Calugos! These are winged mammals that can glide from tree to tree.
This is a 3–4 hour hike through the tropical rainforest mostly under the tree canopy (with shade). The hike is fairly demanding and involves some climbing. The hike begins with a flat walk leading to a cave entrance and begins climbing up the rolling hills which lead to the highest peak in Krabi Province, but we don’t go that high! You’ll walk through rubber plantation and primary rainforest. This is a beautiful path leading up and a different trail on the way down. Both of these hikes are led by an experienced English-speaking Thai who is familiar with the local wildlife and terrain.
Wear closed-toe shoes; running shoes are fine. Do not wear sandals of any kind.
Cost: 800 THB (Thai Baht) per person with a 2-person minimum.
This intensive hike takes you far into the rainforest and at times the whole way to Huay Toh Waterfall using the back trail entrance! This is a 5–7 hour hike during the day that covers some of the same ground as the HIKE #1 above, but includes deeper jungle access and more varied terrain. This hike is only for very fit hikers.
Wear closed-toe shoes and bring water/juice for this long hike.
Cost: 1,200 THB per person. Minimum of two people required. The cost of this hike includes lunch and water.
Note: These hikes are exclusive by our partner, nobody else in Krabi offers these hikes!
